Dr. Andrey Belayev joined Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic in 2016 and is board-certified in neurosurgery. As a general neurosurgeon, Dr. Belayev offers comprehensive care for a wide range of neurological conditions. He specializes in the treatment of neurovascular disorders, including aneurysms, vascular malformations of the brain and spine, carotid artery stenosis, and acute stroke intervention through advanced endovascular procedures.

Dr. Belayev’s expertise also extends to robotic neurosurgery and the management of complex brain and spine conditions such as brain tumors, meningiomas, vestibular schwannomas (acoustic neuromas), pituitary masses, hydrocephalus, normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), and subdural hematomas (SDH). He provides care for patients with trigeminal neuralgia, pulsatile tinnitus, and Moyamoya disease, as well as those needing spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain management.

Additionally, Dr. Belayev performs procedures such as temporal artery biopsies and treats common conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome. With his diverse skill set and patient-centered approach, Dr. Belayev is dedicated to providing personalized care for patients with a broad spectrum of neurosurgical needs.

Dr. Belayev developed a passion for neurosurgery early in his career, conducting research on stroke and head trauma during both college and medical school.

His fluency in Russian and medical Spanish also allows him to attend to the unique language needs of his patients. Dr. Belayev earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in neurosurgery at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his fellowship training in both open cerebrovascular surgery and endovascular neurosurgery and at the prestigious Semmes-Murphey Clinic in Memphis. He also completed a fellowship and advanced clinical training in microvascular and endovascular neurosurgery with the World Federation of Neurological Societies in Nagoya, Japan. Dr. Belayev is the author of 12 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and has been invited to present his research findings at respected clinical meetings around the world. His interests outside of medicine include spending time with his family, traveling, hiking, tennis, and exploring all that North Carolina has to offer. He is married and together with his wife have made Raleigh their home.
