Shawnette Smith DNP, FNP-BC

Shawnette Smith obtained her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She has a keen interest in best practice standards and implementing protocols to improve outcomes in our patient population. The focus of her scholarly project was establishing an evidence-based bundle to prevent ventriculostomy-related illnesses in the neurosurgical ICU.

She has over 15 years of critical care nursing experience in neurosurgical and surgical trauma intensive care. She holds current certifications as a Critical Care Registered Nurse and Advanced Trauma Care Nurse. She is an ANCC board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

She resides in Raleigh and enjoys traveling with her family and friends.
