Andrey Belayev, MD

dsc_0762Andrey Belayev, MD, joined Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic, Inc. in 2016 after completing his fellowship training in both open cerebrovascular surgery and endovascular neurosurgery at the prestigious Semmes-Murphy Clinic in Memphis, TN under the instruction of Adam S. Arthur, MD, MPH, FACS.

Dr. Belayev earned his bachelor degree in microbiology and philosophy from the University of Miami, FL, and was awarded his medical degree from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2007.

He has developed a passion for neurosurgery early in his career, conducting research in the field of stroke and head trauma during his education in college and medical school. Subsequently, Dr. Belayev had the distinct honor of completing his residency training in Neurosurgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, TX where the faculty and peers elected him to serve as a chief resident from 2012–2014. He has also completed a fellowship and advanced clinical training in microvascular and endovascular neurosurgery affiliated with a World Federation of Neurological Societies in Nagoya, Japan.

In addition to his clinical practice as a general neurosurgeon, Dr. Belayev specializes in treatment of neurovascular disorders that include aneurysms, vascular malformations of the brain and spine, carotid artery stenosis and the acute treatment of stroke. He is the author of 12 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and has been invited to present his research findings at respected clinical meetings around the world. Dr. Belayev also attends to the unique language needs of his patients with his fluency in Russian and medical Spanish languages.

Dr. Belayev’s interests outside of medicine include spending time with his family, traveling, exploring all that NC has to offer, hiking, and tennis. He is married and together with his wife have truly made Raleigh their home.
