About Dr. Fukushima
Takanori Fukushima, M.D., was a world-renowned authority in the treatment of skull base pathologies and brain tumors. He invented many of the skull base surgical methods and instruments used by neurosurgeons today. Dr. Fukushima established the “keyhole surgery” technique, which gives surgeons direct access to tumors and compressions at the skull base through a coin-sized opening in the skull. Before this advancement, brain surgery was invasive and often required large incisions and large bone openings.
