In this day and age, it seems like every month or so we hear about a new technology or product coming out that will somehow change our lives.  As a consumer, you may feel the need to stay current with what’s available and purchase the newest gadgets as a result.  In the medical field, however, staying up-to-date on the most current neuro tech is a necessity.  This is why at Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic, our neurosurgeons in Raleigh, NC are always at the forefront of the neuro tech game when it comes to technological advancements, so we can serve our patients in the best possible way.

In our continuous efforts to offer the latest and greatest services, we’re pleased to announce that our new MRI scanner has recently received accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR).  The ACR is the largest and oldest imaging accrediting body in the U.S., and getting their Gold Seal for MRI Accredited Facility is an important designation that shows our facility meets the standards for imaging quality and radiation safety.

Even though MRIs are generally considered very safe, some patients may still be concerned about getting one, either because they don’t know how they work or they may have negative associations with these types of tests.  Patients should understand that MRIs don’t use ionizing radiation—like the x-rays used in CT scans—that can potentially cause damage to DNA, but the process and interpretation of results is still complicated.

MRI accredited facilityThis means that the equipment and the medical professionals using it must meet certain standards, and the Gold Seal Accreditation ensures this. In order to get the accreditation, our neurosurgeons in Raleigh, NC volunteered for a rigorous review process to determine if our MRI scanner meets these nationally accepted standards of care.

Our staff was evaluated to confirm that everyone involved is well qualified, through education and certification, to perform the MRIs, interpret findings and administer radiation therapy.  All of our equipment was also assessed by a medical imaging expert who verifies that it functions properly and is appropriate for all the tests and treatments we offer, takes optimal images and utilizes appropriate radiation dose levels.  The findings of the process showed that Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic meets all safety guidelines and exceeds in quality assurance.

Our neurosurgeons in Raleigh, NC are thrilled to receive the Gold Seal for MRI Accredited Facility from ACR.  We owe it to our patients to ensure that all the technologies we use are as current and safe as possible, and this accreditation shows how committed we are to this goal.  So if we recommend that you get an MRI, you can take comfort in knowing that our scanner and procedures are up-to-date and meet all the necessary safety requirements.
